Well we stopped for a cup of tea and so I could photograph those gorgeous mineral green rocks with white veins, but we got so much more.

Around the covered picnic area are information plaques, with history snippets from dinosaurs to the present day - an unexpected opportunity to stretch your brain along with your legs.

In 1920's Soldier Summit used to be a prospering town of 2500 people, with major train station & junction, servicing the helper engines which pushed the heavy coal trains up the steep hill. The town and the people are gone, but the rest stop is built as a replica station and round house to mark the area's history.

Mineral grey green, silver sage, ocher and storm cloud blue grey, with little accents of pale butter yellow flowers. A very soothing colour palette... in case I ever get a bedroom again.
