Collecting Shells in Lawrence, KS

We came to Lawrence, Kansas entirely because Rifftrax (Mystery Science Theater 3000) was showing Krull, and was playing at the local cinema and because they have an Army Corp of Engineers Campground close by (they are the best!). What I wasn't expecting was to be collecting shells on a beach with crystal blue water, following deer tracks in the sand and collecting tennis balls from the trees.

All rather magical and certainly more unexpected than flying monkeys.

Do not park a highly dentable Airstream underneath the tennis ball tree

OK people...green or yellow? Nope - it's Osage Orange (not edible - thank you Joy!)

Clinton Lake, KS Army Corp Campgrounds are the best!

With two Universities, a whole bunch of free museums and galleries and a thriving Main Street, the town looks like it would be a fun place to spend some time. Alas, we were there just long enough to stock up on baked beans at Brits, then on the road again. A short but sweet visit.

Brits to the right, European Market to the left - post Brexit blues.

Sandy toes and shells in Kansas? Well that was unexpected.
